The story
From the pit to the pitch.
It isn't a story about skill. It's about a man who had quietly given up, a dangerous prayer, and a God who uses anybody willing to start.

Six years in the pit.
Chronic sickness nobody could explain. Throwing up most mornings on the mission field, insomnia, panic attacks, depression. From the outside life looked great.
Healed in a moment.
In the middle of a panic attack I felt God say I wasn't going to die. I lifted my hands and worshiped. It was the last one.
The dangerous prayer.
Forty pounds heavier and out of every habit, I didn't like the man I'd become. In a coffee shop in Northern Virginia I prayed, then asked what to do. The answer was one word.
God, do not let me move from this chair until You bring the fire back in my heart.
Burning the ships.
Megan said yes right away. I found a ball in my in-laws' basement, tried toe taps, and posted it with zero followers so I couldn't quit in the dark.
The climb.
Rec league, where I looked like a toddler as fat as a buffalo and got the ball taken off me by anyone who tried. An amateur team. A club in Brazil that flew me down. The final four of TST on ESPN. Three months of silence. Then drafted to pro indoor with the Empire Strykers in 2024, more for the locker room than the skill.
Team USA. Essen, Germany.
Did I make the FIFA World Cup? No. I made the Team USA roster for the SOCCA 6-a-side World Cup, and played in Germany with my family in the stands. God did it.
